Jeremy Bennet uses his creative talent to repurpose old textiles and turns them into something new with a twist. He started at Portland Maine’s Rogue’s Gallery where he had the opportunity to cut his teeth and also held the role of Lead Designer of Bags and Accessories.
He is now heading Black Point Mercantile which he founded in 2011. Black Point Mercantile is an atelier of sorts that creates vintage Americana inspired creations, which is now in its fourth year and is carried by a number of stockists and retailers across the globe including East Dane, John Derian & Co., Sharktooth, Barney’s New York, Levi’s Made & Crafted and Portland Dry Goods.
Jeremy Bennet works with a wide variety of materials but one of his favourite materials to work with is denim.
“I love denim because there’s such a wide array of colors and fabrics, and the breakdown of the materials and the thread is just fantastic.”
He has just finished a patchwork denim weekender made from old coveralls and raw vegetable tanner leather from Herman Oaks.
You can head over to the Black Point Mercantile website to view more of Jeremy’s work.
