There are a few denim brands in the world that are a dedication to true denim artisans. Rogue Territory is just one of a few; it was founded in 2008 by Karl Thoennessen as a custom denim workshop within American Rag’s World Denim Bar in Los Angeles California. At this time Rogue Territory was only making one-of-a-kind bespoke denim for discerning and select customers. These jeans were made to the specification of the customer and allowed for a great deal of customization. However in the Fall of 2009 Rogue Territory stopped making custom jeans to focus on launching their brand as a ready-to-wear line with a wider variety of pieces. The capsule collection was sold at American Rag and it consisted of three limited edition styles, a pair of jeans called the “Dean” which later became their best-selling ‘Stanton” fit, the “SK” and the “Standard Issue,” a vintage inspired jean.
According to the founders of the brand Rogue Territory began as a self-exploration that was born out of a personal passion for denim. “We’ve always been drawn to denim because it is a material unlike any other, it evolves and changes over time in a way that is completely unique to the individual wearing it and the experiences he/she has in it.” Rogue Territory has now evolved into human exploration-the discovery of likeminded craftsmen, artisans and creative doers.
Rogue Territory has become a global brand which focuses on craftsmanship, creativity and handcrafted quality denim goods and apparel for the most discerning customer who has an appreciation for the subtle design details that they incorporate into the clothing, an impeccable fit and a modern interpretation of classic garments.
The latest collection from Rogue Territory features some classic denim styles, denim jackets as well as a varisty jacket. The collection is very workwear and military inspired and the pieces in the collection give a vintage inspired look and feel.
Rouge Territory’s most popular jean the slim fitting “Stanton” is available in three different variations. The Black Warp Tonal with tonal stitching which is 14,5 oz denim fabric from Nihon Menpu, the Black Warp Contrast which is also 14,5 oz denim fabric but comes in contrast stitching and the RK Stealth which is 14,5 oz 100% pure indigo-dyed with tonal stitching which starts off very understated and the jeans show more character as they begin to fade.
Two other styles are also available, the Double Black Stealth RK Trouser which is made from 15 oz sulphur dyed selvedge denim which you can apparently smell on the jeans but will disappear after a few weeks and the Black Warp Tonal Stitching SK jean.
Another great piece from the collection is the Indigo Supply Jacket that has been crafted from selvedge denim.
